| Club Details St. Ninian's Football Club is
the new name for Sherwood-Greenlaw Church Football Club. Here's some of
the history:
Sherwood-Greenlaw Church F.C. developed out of the weekly meetings for five-a-side football at The Pitz (now Power League) in Paisley, Scotland. In 2001 we decided to have a go at the elevens game on a regular basis, and were accepted into the third division of the Strathclyde Evangelical Churches League. Our first League season was tough going, with wins few and far between. As one of the two best teams discipline-wise out of all three divisions, we competed for the Fair Play Shield on 31st August 2002, against second division side Anniesland who beat us to win the trophy for the sixth time. In the '02-'03 season we maintained a good disciplinary record, and improved our points total, with 9 league wins and five draws from 22 games giving us a respectable 32 points. The 2003-04 season was our least successful all round but in 2004-05 we bounced back, with no serious drubbings and a few notable wins. Season 2005-06 saw us finish with a record number of goals scored and our highest league position yet, but in 2006-07 we reverted to a frustrating pattern of win one, lose two. Season 2007-08 was our best ever - a record points tally and runners-up in our division's Atholl Cup, whilst maintaining our reputation for Christian sportsmanship. ![]() Season 2008-09 sees the Sherwood squad renamed St. Ninian's, Stonehouse and continuing under this new identity and with new management. There is every reason to predict that as a team they will go from strength to strength! |
